Josh Micro revolutionizes how you interact with your home. In addition to a far-field microphone array that allows you to utilize Josh’s natural language processing abilities, the touch dial is configurable to execute scenes, adjust the level of various devices, and more!

At Josh.ai we believe that a simple interface is key to offering a more intuitive experience. This belief not only applies to how the end-user interacts with Josh, but how the integrator does as well. Josh Micro has numerous customizable capabilities in order to provide a truly personalized luxury experience.

Josh Micro Tile

Each Micro has a tile that is accessible in its assigned room or in the devices tab of the Josh Portal. Clicking on the settings icon in the upper right hand corner will flip the tile to Micro’s various features, allowing the user to customize how they interact with their home. You can also pin a Micro to your dashboard with the thumbtack icon in the upper left hand corner.

Single & Double Taps

With a touch capacitive surface, Micro is programmable to respond to single and double taps. By default out of the box, one tap will enable listening mode — so you can give a command without using the wake word — and two taps will mute / unmute the microphones.

In addition to the default options, you can also choose any two scenes to trigger with your respective taps. For example, you could program the Micro located in your master bedroom to run a “Good Morning” scene with a single tap when you wake up, and a “Good Night” scene with a double tap before going to bed.

Slider

The LED touch ring on Micro builds off the anaphora (memory) embedded in the Josh software. After giving a lights, shades, or music command, you can manually adjust your devices with a clockwise or counterclockwise swipe to the desired level. For example, if you say “Okay Josh, lower the shades,” you can then slide your finger on the LED ring immediately following the command to adjust the room’s shades.

If you slide your finger on the LED ring at any other time, Micro will behave based on how you configure it. By default, the ring will adjust the volume output of the Micro itself. You can use the Slider section in the Micro tile to assign the LED ring to control your shades, music volume, or lights.

Wake Word

In addition to setting a single or double tap to activate your Micro, you can also choose between three wake word options. “Ok Josh” is the default option, but if you prefer something else or someone in your home is named Josh, you can choose between “Hey Micro” and “OK Home.” It is important to remember that if you alter the wake word on one Micro, all of the Micros in your home will reflect that change.

Microphone

Naturally, we wanted to give the end-user the ability to turn their microphone on or off. This is especially useful, for example, when you are entertaining and do not want anyone talking to Josh. When the microphone is off, a red LED animation will indicate that Micro is no longer listening.

Nicknames

You can add nicknames and aliases for each Josh Micro. Note that whichever names or aliases you choose need to be unique for each Micro in the home.

Micro Ownership

Speech recognition is not yet advanced enough to identify the user speaking with one hundred percent certainty. However, Josh’s concept of user access to scenes and ownership of Micros is a way that we counteract this drawback. By creating personal scenes and assigning Micros to owners, Josh can execute user-specific permissions.

This feature is useful for scenes having control of locks and other access controls. For example, a scene with control of these sensitive devices would be assigned to the owner of the home and only have voice accessibility through their Micro located in the master bedroom.

Room Assignments

Similar to all of your other device tiles, you can easily move Micro between the rooms in your home. Since Micro is room aware, it is important that you accurately assign the location of Micro using this setting.
