Name: Quinn Coleman
What do you do at Josh? I’m spending the summer back from my fourth year of college in Josh’s engineering team! I mainly do software quality assurance (SQA), supplemented by various development projects and being a helpful hand for anyone to grab.
Where are you from originally? I’m originally from the small town of Niwot, Colorado.
Which office do you work in? I work out of the Denver office, so it’s nice to be back in the home state.
What do you love about the smart home? I love how you don’t have to worry about wasting energy while being away from home, since it can all be controlled remotely.
What are you most excited about over the next few years? I’m most excited about the new ways we will find for AI to facilitate and enhance our lives. It’s cool to see that this is already happening at Josh.ai. At school I’m a computer science major, and I’m planning on doing my thesis related to music information retrieval (MIR), a field within AI that I imagine will impact anyone who works with or lives around music in exciting ways.
iPhone or Android? iPhone
What do you do for fun? I like to go bicycling, hiking, running and golfing. I pick up my trumpet every once in a while too, especially if friends are putting together a casual jam sesh.
If you could go anywhere, where would it be? I’m currently stuck between Japan and Ireland. Japan would be great to get immersed in the culture, but Ireland is also in my roots.
Favorite restaurant in the world? Sushi Leo in Longmont, Colorado. When I was going there frequently, the owner’s wife made a mean ramen special on Saturdays.
Favorite IoT / smart home product? Am I allowed to say the Josh system? Josh’s reactions to voice make the system really approachable as a user, and its emphasis on privacy would make me comfortable enough to put it in my future home. I’m excited to see where it goes!
What is your favorite feature of Josh? I like how you can run any number of actions just by telling Josh a custom command.
Favorite books / reading material / websites? My favorite website is YouTube. While I probably watched too much growing up, it inspired me in how it created a space for anyone to express themselves and get discovered around the world for it.
