What do you do at Josh? I’m a software engineer working on back-end and device integration, specifically lights, cameras, and Josh Micro.
Where are you originally from? I’m originally from Texas and then came to Colorado to attend Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO.
What office do you work in? I work in the Denver office.
What do you love about the smart home? The ability to control and monitor aspects of your home remotely.
What are you most excited about over the next few years? I’m looking forward to having the home anticipate my routine actions, to cut down on how much I have to interact with it.
iPhone or Android? iPhone, but will probably go Android for my next phone.
What do you do for fun? Brew beer, hike, read SciFi, cook, play guitar, snowshoe.
If you could go anywhere, where would it be? I really want to go to French Polynesia. Beaches and dramatic mountains in one place.
Favorite restaurant in the world? I went to the UK last summer and had Sunday roast at The Queens Arms in Edinburgh. Gammon, Yorkshire pudding, mashed parsnips, gravy, and cask beer.
Favorite IoT / smart home product? Cameras. The newer Nest cameras not only detect motion, but also tell you if the moving object is a person.
What is your favorite feature of Josh? The ability to parse complex requests (“close the shades and watch Breaking Bad on Netflix in the living room”).
