What do you do at Josh? I’m a software engineer working on the backend including device integration, primarily around AV equipment — TVs, speakers, etc.
Where are you from originally? I was born in New York but mostly grew up in Georgia.

What do you love about the smart home? Smart home provides the opportunity to take the large (and increasing) number of IoT devices and make them work together seamlessly. On their own, smart lights, smart thermostats, smart speakers, smart TVs, etc are somewhat compelling, but when seamlessly integrated, they provide an experience that enriches the life of the homeowner.
What are you most excited about over the next few years? As smart home devices improve, they will get more seamless and natural. A smart home that learns preferences and patterns without having to be explicitly taught them is going to be an amazing experience.

What do you do for fun? I’m an avid outdoorsman. I love hiking, mountaineering, and climbing.
If you could go anywhere, where would it be? I’m excited to spend some time in the big mountains in Alaska.
Favorite restaurant in the world? It’s difficult to choose. It varies so much by what I’m in the mood for!
Favorite IoT / smart home product? Connected speakers. Whole home audio is an amazing experience that’s only improving as voice control for it gets better.
What is your favorite feature of Josh? The touch control on the micro makes Josh a really interesting replacement for physical devices we’re used to having in the home like light switches.
Favorite books / reading material / websites? A lot of my reading is to learn skills. Lately I’ve been really enjoying Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain, but I love classics like Freedom of the Hills.
