The Josh.ai Team

Here at Josh.ai, we send quarterly surveys to all of our partners to gain insight into how we can improve for our integrators and clients. We constantly strive to enhance every aspect of the Josh experience for our customers, and quarterly surveys help us hone in on high-priority requests and areas of improvement.

After analyzing the feedback we received, here is what we learned:

Project Outlook — Timing

It is extremely helpful from the product, sales, and support perspectives to forecast how many Josh projects are coming down the line. The results of our latest survey show that almost 60% of our dealers have projects planned for the upcoming quarter. This statistic shows that the hard work from our Sales and Engineering teams is paying off.

More extended forecasts are standard in the custom installation industry due to the sheer size and long timelines of many projects. More than 25% of our dealers have Josh projects planned for the last quarter of 2022 or the first quarter of 2023. It is exciting to see the continuous growth and consistency in Josh demand, and this data goes a long way in expanding upon our sales success.

Project Outlook — Josh Products

Since the release of Josh Nano and Josh Core, we have seen extremely positive feedback regarding the adoption of our two new products. While dealers can install Josh Micro or Josh Nano with Josh Core, we are seeing more and more projects deploying Josh Nano thanks to its sleek and discreet design. This is the first report that we have seen Josh Nano taking the top spot as our most popular microphone, a significant change from previous quarters when Josh Micro dominated.

It is rewarding to see that our microphone products are in high demand and innovating the smart home space. It is only the beginning of the Josh.ai revolution!

Josh Positioning

Josh is not only a premium standalone automation system but also the best-in-class voice control integration for our partners Control4 and Creston. It is interesting to break down how and where our products are being installed, with a heavy overlap in projects that already utilize these control systems. Based on our Q2 data, 90% of Josh dealers want to continue using Josh as a voice complement to traditional control systems. This information helps our engineering team prioritize integrations and software updates around our key control partners.

As we continue to build out our integrations and strategic partners, we are excited to provide our dealers with the flexibility to deploy Josh as a standalone system as well. While Josh is a perfect complement to a Control4 or Creston system, Josh thrives as a standalone system, especially in projects where clients want to be involved in personalizing their smart home experience.

Platform Access

The responses to this question provide our sales, training, and business teams with interesting insight. Many industries are shifting towards an RMR-style model (recurring monthly revenue) and Josh has been among the first in the custom integration industry to introduce this pricing structure. Our platform Access, structured in 1-year, 5-year, and lifetime subscriptions today, provides integrators with a continuous revenue stream. RMR also gives our dealers a reason to be more involved with clients to support and upgrade their smart homes.

Like most software companies, we are continuously making updates that improve the simplicity, privacy, and magic of the Josh experience for our customers. In doing so, our sales and training teams need to understand where our partners can use help pitching Josh’s value.

Since collecting our Q2 survey results, we have already begun exploring ways to improve our product and business. We cannot wait to unveil the updates in store for CEDIA Expo and beyond! Let us know if you plan on going to the show in Dallas and we will see you there :)

Please reach out with any thoughts or questions. If you are a Josh dealer and did not participate in the Q2 survey, we would love to hear your feedback directly or on the next one!
